Photographer Scott McFarland creates exacting images that depict nature crafted to human will and desire. Subtle and thought-provoking, his work has been featured in numerous prominent galleries, including the Monte Clark Gallery in Vancouver, as well as the Union Gallery in London, England and Regen Projects in Los Angeles.
Always keen on investigating unusual subject matter, McFarland has produced a major body of work that focuses on the intricacies of Vancouver gardens. On one level, the photographs indicate a state of harmony and tranquility, while on the other the overall effect appears artificial. McFarland’s works emphasize the precarious balance between human and natural worlds, and furthermore how photography’s link to reality is both true and fabricated.
